Merkel calls on Greek voters to 'remain part of our story' as Syriza vows to end 'national humiliation'

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she wants Greece to “remain part of our story”.

Merkel was speaking ahead of elections in Greece which could see anti-austerity party Syriza come to power and plant a question mark over Greece’s future in the 19-nation currency bloc.

The rise in support for Syriza in Greece has caused concern that the country could default on its debt and leave the euro zone.
