The golfer, who was one of Ireland’s top medal hopes, is likely to be joined by a horde of other athletes.

The key sports to watch are those where an Olympic gold isn’t the top honour on offer.

While athletics and swimming are the core revenue and ratings drivers for the games, many of the other sports that draw in viewers don’t prize an Olympic gold as highly.
