Former health minister and tánaiste Mary Harney has taken a substantial stake in a pharmaceutical company controlled by one of India’s wealthiest women ahead of its stock market float next month.

Syngene International, a biomedical research company, is seeking to raise around €80 million when its share issue opens for subscription tomorrow.
