The 2014 Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh has said that Brianna Parkins, the Sydney Rose who called for a vote on the Eighth Amendment in last week’s popular televised competition, should be put on a pedestal to change the perception of the Rose of Tralee festival.

Speaking to The Sunday Business Post, Walsh said that she herself was “far from being a pageant queen”.
