In February, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone, secured Government approval to draft amendments to revise the privacy provisions in the Adoption (Information and Tracing) Bill 2016.
These amendments would mean that the much criticised requirement of adoptees to sign an “undertaking” not to contact their birth parents to receive their information has been removed from the Bill.
