Ladbrokes in merger talks with Gala Coral

“This deal, on paper, makes a lot of strategic sense,” said an analyst.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes is in talks with Gala Coral regarding possible merger, it has said.

“A merger with Gala Coral could create a combined business with significant scale and has the potential to generate substantial cost synergies, creating value for both companies' shareholders," the bookmaker said in a statement this morning.

Ladbrokes is currently the number one player in Britain’s retail betting market by shop numbers and market share with 2,209 shops at the end...
