John Magnier wins latest Australia mine battle

Mine found to pose risk to operation and reputation of Coolmore stud

Coolmore, the international bloodstock empire controlled by John Magnier, has won another round of a major planning battle to block an open cut mine from opening within one kilometre of its huge Australian stud farm.

In a 100-page decision, the Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) of New South Wales, appointed by the Australian government to review the mine, said it was recommending that the mine being proposed by Anglo American “should not proceed”.
