The man who received an apology from President Michael D Higgins has had his deportation order declared unconstitutional.

Socialist Jimmy Gralton, who died in 1946 at the age of 59, was the only Irish person ever to be deported after clashing with the clergy and local politicians.

He was the subject of Ken Loach’s film Jimmy’s Hall in 2014, which told the story of how a dance and arts hall he set up in his native Leitrim...
