Irish Rail will have to pay out hundreds of thousands of euro in overtime payments if it introduces more frequent Dart services as planned at the end of this month, according to union sources.

Even if the company can broker and agreement with unions, it still faces a shortage of train drivers until the summer, according to trade union sources.
