Irish jobless rate unchanged at 8.8% in December

The jobless rate was unchanged at 8.8% in December

The unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.8 per cent in December and down from 10.2 per cent in the same month last year, the Central Statistics Office said.

The number of people without a job fell to 190,600 last month, down 700 from November and 29,200 lower than the year-earlier figure.

Youth unemployment, affecting those aged 15 to 24, slipped to 19.2 per cent from 19.4 per cent in November, the CSO said.
