Irish industrial production bounces back in April

'Modern' sector leads recovery after two months of falls

Official figures show that industrial production grew strongly during April, with the volume of production 8.1 per cent higher than in March. As a result, there was an annual increase of 4.7 per cent in the year to April.

The figures can be volatile, and April's increase follows double-digit percentage drops in February and March, and a 17.6 per cent rise in January.
