INM notification failed to mention personal data risk

Data watchdog to begin formal probe of company within weeks

An initial notification by Independent News & Media last year about a potential exposure of information did not mention that personal data may have been at risk.

The Data Protection Commission was notified by INM last August of a potential breach, even though it was not mandatory for the company to do so.

The issue raised by INM was that it was the target of off-site and on-site processing of its data by third-party processors...
