The writer David Walsh tells a story about John Magnier that he describes as a mixture of truth and mischief. It is true that Magnier did take his son John Paul to the Vatican to be baptised by the Pope. It is mischief, however, to say that the reason for the journey was that that day the weather was bad in Co Tipperary so the Pope could not fly to Coolmore Stud.
