High-profile new releases boost books and film in 2014 Home-grown talent beats off the competition

Both the book and film markets in Ireland were buoyed by a set of high-profile new releases this year. While international bestsellers and blockbusters were predictably well received, it was the calibre of work coming out of Ireland that came to define the last 12 months of writing and reading, production and viewing.

Although cinema admissions dipped slightly in 2014, industry insiders were broadly pleased with the final result and are upbeat about 2015.
