Healy Rae slams state fisheries board for planned farm shutdown

TD says shutdown will damage €836m angling tourism industry

The IFI's fish stock management programmes rears brown and rainbow trout which is used to enhance the angling status of a fishery.

The body has recently extended for another month its public consultation process on freshwater trout production, "in recognition of the depth of stakeholders’ viewpoints on this issue".

Recreational angling generates €836 million for the Irish economy annually and supports 11,350 Irish jobs.
