GPs express concern over preparation for abortion services

Doctors have flagged serious concerns about whether patients will be able to access terminations of pregnancy in the new year.

One hundred GPs across Munster have written to the head of maternity services in the region, who is a conscientious objector, seeking clarity.

The GPs’ concerns primarily relate to women who are between nine and 12 weeks pregnant and therefore need to access obstetrics and gynaecology units for their care.
