The government is set to give final approval to the National Broadband Plan (NBP) this week, with a decision possible at cabinet on Tuesday.

Last week, the European Commission gave the Irish government approval to proceed with the €3 billion project, under EU state aid rules, which has paved the way for a contract to be awarded to the state’s preferred bidder.
