Garda superintendent who investigated McCabe allegation takes case against TV3

The senior garda who investigated an allegation of sexual abuse made against whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe in 2006 has launched a High Court action against TV3.

Superintendent Noel Cunningham has already lodged defamation claims against RTE, The Sunday Times and The Irish Examiner. He is represented by Johnsons solicitors.The proceedings relate to media reports of allegedly conflicting accounts of a meeting he and another officer, Sergeant Yvonne Martin, held with McCabe in Mullingar in 2008.
