A statutory inquiry established to investigate allegations of Garda misconduct has cost the taxpayer almost €180,000 to date.
Retired judge Patrick McMahon was appointed in May 2017 to inquire into Garda investigations conducted into accusations of financial irregularity made against former Isme chief executive Frank Mulcahy.
He was removed from his position in 1998 after allegations were made against him that he had submitted invoices prior to the relevant costs having been incurred.
