Force is with the winners of Skellig Michael permits. Boat operators compete for 15 lucrative contracts

Boat operators are competing to become the chosen one, or rather chosen 15, to win a permit to land visitors on Skellig Michael, which has been made famous worldwide after featuring in Star Wars films.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) has launched a public competition to award up to 15 permits that will give operators the right to ferry and land tourists on the Unesco World Heritage Site, 12 kilometres off the south-west Kerry coastline.
