British bookmaker Ladbrokes' profits and revenue in the first half of this year were ahead of expectations, helped by favourable sports results.
Revenue was up just over 13 per cent compared with a year earlier to £661.8m, with operating profit jumping 34.4 per cent to £52.3m. Earnings per share rose by 41.7 per cent to 3.4p and pre-tax profits climbed by 61 per cent to £39.8m.
