Flood hit families claimed €27,000 each, insurance figures reveal

Winter storms caused €20 million of damage to over 700 homes

The average size of an insurance claim for damage was €27,000, the AA has revealed.

According to data from the insurer, the storms of last winter affected over 700 households and cost approximately €20 million.

It also found that the insured loss to businesses was a further €30 million, while it estimates that damage to infrastructure may ultimately top €120 million when all repairs are finished.
