Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault involving a Fine Gael councillor and general election candidate outside a nightclub in the early hours of the morning last June.

Louth councillor John McGahon has admitted to his involvement in a drunken fight. The 27-year-old has said he has yet to make a statement to Gardaí, but that he is prepared to do so.
