A garda superintendent with a long history of road traffic run-ins has had penalty points written off, The Sunday Business Post has established.

He has been involved in nine separate incidents which resulted in him getting fixed charge notices since 2009.

But there is no evidence that any of them resulted in the garda superintendent getting penalty points.
