The European Commission has vetoed a tax scheme designed to help build a potentially lucrative aviation services business at Shannon airport amid fears over state aid.
The government is now locked in negotiations with EU authorities, hoping to revive an amended version of the tax break plan which was a flagship government project designed to generate hundreds of jobs by facilitating the construction of hangars and ancillary facilities at the Co Clare airport.
