Euro zone inflation remains at 0.2% in December

The Eurostat figures show euro zone energy prices fell by 5.9% last month

Euro zone consumer price inflation rose by 0.2 per cent in December compared to a year earlier, in line with November but below market forecasts, new figures from Eurostat show.

Economists had forecast a rise of 0.3 per cent last month. Inflation in the euro zone remains well below the European Central Bank's two per cent target, despite the bank's €60 billion a month monetary stimulus programme.
