Eir sends a signal with no-frills network and Apple TV offer

The launch of Eir TV and new cut-price mobile service GoMo should force other providers to respond

Eir’s billionaire owner Xavier Niel has a well-earned reputation for upending any telecoms market he sets his sights on. Having laid the groundwork over the past 18 months, the maverick French tycoon’s imprints are now becoming clear on his Irish operations with the launch last week of a new TV offering and a cut-price mobile operator.

Irish consumers were introduced to GoMo, the newest entrant to the mobile market, and Eir TV.
