“My nine-year-old is infatuated with you,” shouted a man who had just jammed on the brakes of his car in the middle of the road. He had spotted Ivana Bacik, the Labour Party by-election candidate, walking along Garville Road in Rathgar in the Dublin Bay South constituency.
