Deadline looms for wealthy retirement savers

Exemption from €2 million pension tax rule ends on July 2

More than 400 of the country’s wealthiest retirement savers have been granted an exemption from pension tax rules by the Revenue Commissioners, but high-earners who still wish to seek an exemption are up against a looming deadline.

Budget 2014 saw the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan announce a significant reduction in the standard fund threshold, the maximum pension pot on which a person can receive tax relief in their lifetime.
