Deadline for submissions on zero-hour contracts is today, Nash says

Minister for Employment will bring proposals to government "very shortly"

Today is the closing date for submissions by interested parties on an independent study into zero and low-hour contracts, the Minister for Business and Employment Ged Nash has said.

The government-commissioned report by the University of Limerick found zero-hour contracts were not extensively used in Ireland but it found evidence of "if and when" contracts, which also involve non-guaranteed hours of work but under which workers are not contractually required to make themselves available.
