Corporate governance experts criticise FAI

Oversight should be ‘Premiership’ standard

The Football Association of Ireland’s standards of financial disclosure have been challenged by corporate governance experts in the wake of the controversy over Fifa’s €5 million loan to the organisation in 2010.

UCD professor of management Niamh Brennan said that an extraordinary item such as the €5 million should be explicitly recorded in company accounts, whether it was revenue or a loan.
