Complaints to Dublin Airport over noise have tripled this year as surrounding residents have mounted a campaign against the airport’s expansion plans.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), which in April announced plans to proceed with the development of a new runway 1.6 kilometres north of the existing main runway, received an additional 641 noise complaints this year.

From January to October in 2015, the DAA received 238 complaints. But complaints soared to 879 from January...
