Communities to raise €9,000 for refugee families

Government has given a commitment to house 4,000 refugees

Minister of State for Immigration David Stanton is planning to get communities to collect up to €9,000 to host individual refugee families.

Under the plan, local communities would help to identify empty houses that a refugee family could live in and then help them when they arrived to learn English, settle their children into local schools and find jobs.

Stanton said that communities would raise around €8,000 to €9,000 in funding to support the integration...
