Central Bank welcomes plan to round 1c and 2c coins

Six EU countries have already implemented the rounding policy

The Government’s decision to round up one and two cent coins following a trial conducted in Wexford has been welcomed by the Central Bank.

The bank said it will assume responsibility for the project. One and two cent coins will remain legal tender and the rounding up will be conducted on a voluntary basis, the bank said.
