Callinan says he told Shatter about McCabe allegations

Former Sunday Independent editor recalls false rumours circulating about Sergeant Maurice McCabe

The former Garda commissioner, Martin Callinan, said he passed on allegations of child abuse against the Garda whistleblower, Maurice McCabe, to the then justice minister, Alan Shatter.

This is the only time Callinan shared such information, according to his own account to the Charleton Tribunal which is investigating an alleged smear campaign against McCabe.
