Average earnings little changed over past year

Biggest rise came in professional, scientific and technical sector

Earnings have increased in 9 of 13 economic sectors

Official figures show that average earnings across the economy fell during the second quarter of this year, though they are still up compared with the same period a year earlier.

The Central Statistics Office said preliminary estimates showed that average weekly earnings were €703.83 in the second quarter, down 1.3 per cent from the first quarter but a rise of 0.5 per cent from a year earlier.
