Ahern floats ‘super boats’ as solution to post-Brexit trade

Bertie Ahern has suggested that Hong Kong-style ‘super boats’ using direct routes to the European continent as a possible solution to Ireland’s reliance on the British land bridge for trade with Europe.

More than three million tonnes of goods are transported via the land bridge every year and the former taoiseach said alternatives needed to be found to counteract the effects of Brexit.
