The countdown is well under way. Next Bastille Day, July 14, the guillotine comes down on all Microsoft support for Windows Server 2003. This has been scheduled for a couple of years, so it can be no surprise to any organisation using the platform. Mainstream Microsoft support ended in 2010, but security patching will continue until the deadline. Yet according to research by Microsoft Ireland, there are still about 2,800 known organisations using it with perhaps 23,000 actual servers.
