United was on shaky enough ground online before the incident where one of its passengers was forcibly removed from a flight. The controversy surrounding children not being able to board a flight due to a dress code issue had blown over reasonably smoothly, but it should have been a warning to the airline. Instead, it made the firm cocky and that hubris cost it greatly this past week.
