Eircom outage serves to cloud its improving results

Talk of an IPO is now on the back burner and broadband expansion will be key to its future

It’s been a mixed week for Eircom. Financially, it reported relatively positive numbers last week. Its fourth quarter saw revenue of €325 million, up 5 per cent – its first growth in seven years – while it pared back its costs by 5 per cent, leading to earnings growing by 12 per cent to €135 million on the previous year.
