Everybody needs to stop scaring everybody, that was the short, simple, and oft repeated message from Steve Schmidt, chief information security officer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in his keynote at the first ever specialised security conference hosted by the cloud colossus.

Schmidt came out to a packed hall in Boston’s Convention and Exhibition centre, with 5,000 inside and another 5,000 elsewhere at the event keeping track, to talk about a need to end scaremongering...
