It is always curious when certain seemingly innocuous terms trigger visceral reactions, acting as a barometer of one’s world view. When apparently mundane things lie at ideological faultlines, their mere mention can induce a surprising passion. The furore over 5G is an example of this phenomenon. You’d be forgiven for thinking a new telecom standard for mobile internet would not arouse much feeling – but you would be mistaken.
