A sort of homecoming for Amazon’s man in Ireland

Family circumstances played a big part in Mike Beary’s decision to return from the US, but he also wanted to be part of the Amazon success story in this country

It takes a while for Mike Beary‘s Meath accent to really show. Originally from Ashbourne, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) country manager for Ireland spent 25 years living in the US.

Three years ago, having spent the previous five years at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, he felt it was the right time to come home.

“It was a combination of things. My mum has Alzheimer’s so my husband and I decided we had the most flexibility to come home and be her primary carers. Like any good middle-aged Irishman, I moved back in with my mother,” he told the Business Post.
