Rent caps on table to tackle housing crisis

Department of the Environment are expected to create a fund of hundreds of millions of euros to support new housing developments

Restrictions on rent increases, tax breaks for landlords, an easing of development levies and state assistance for developers of new housing are all likely to be part of a package of measures to ease the pressure in the naton’s rental and housing markets

The measures are likely to be approved by the government in September.
