Retail Ireland forecasts overall consumer sales will top €4.2 billion in December
Irish households are set to spend more than €2,500 on average over Christmas as consumer sales top €4.2 billion, according to Retail Ireland.
In its latest retail monitor, the group representing the sector estimates households will spend €2,587 this December, €720 more than in any other month of the year and around €26 more than last year. Overall sales are expected to rise by 3.7 per cent, or €160 million, from €4.05 billion in 2015.
