161 dead and more than 2,800 arrested in failed Turkish coup

161 people have been killed and 2,800 detained in a night of bloodshed in Turkey after members of its military staged a failed coup.
Acting army chief General Umit Dundar said: "The coup attempt has been foiled." Dundar said that 47 civilians were among the dead and that 104 coup plotters were also killed.
He added that 1,400 people were wounded and warned that anyone who betrayed the country would be punished.
