Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune was in a desperate race to save her seat in the Ireland South constituency due to the strong showing of Independents4Change TD Mick Wallace.

Fine Gael’s Seán Kelly was set to top the poll in the five-seater constituency with Sinn Féin’s Liadh Ní Riada and Fianna Fáil’s Billy Kelleher also very likely to take a seat.
