Fine Gael backbenchers are set to get new jobs as the “eyes and ears” of ministers in the next administration.

Plans are being drawn up for the creation of new posts to help ministers to get legislation passed. This will be crucial for the operation of a Fine Gael-led minority government, because it will not have the votes to get legislation passed unless others abstain or support it.
