Despite Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin’s telephone conversation with acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny just before lunchtime yesterday, the pair will not now meet until late next week.

The call yesterday began with political pleasantries, just like two acquaintances might start off by talking about the weather.
