Government officials are drawing up plans for cabinet briefing

Government officials are to prepare a position paper on the costs and logistics of accepting thousands more refugees from Syria to be considered by ministers in the coming days.

Officials in the Department of Public Expenditure are working to examine “short-term and long-term options” for accepting significantly more refugees, according to two sources familiar with the work.
